The Splitz are a long‑running alternative rock force from Milwaukee, WI — a duo with decades of history and a sound that refuses to sit still.
Built around multi‑instrumentalists John Jaco and Scott E. Berendt, the band blends indie rock, power pop, and synth‑driven new wave, pulling from the sharp hooks of The Fixx, the rhythmic pulse of The Police, and the melodic instincts of R.E.M. and Split Enz.
Originally formed in 1986, The Splitz cut their teeth in the Midwest alt‑rock scene, even catching the attention of Slash/Warner Bros. Records before their 1992 hiatus. When they reunited in 2016, they didn’t just pick up where they left off — they rebuilt the project into a lean, creative two‑man engine.
Across every album, The Splitz chase big ideas with DIY grit — layering guitars, synths, and rhythmic experimentation into a sound that feels both retro‑inspired and forward‑moving.
It’s alternative rock with a pulse, a brain, and a signature Milwaukee edge.
The Splitz hit a zone where Classic Rock and New‑Wave DNA meets modern indie imagination. They build these sharp, melodic worlds that feel instantly familiar, like they’re carrying the best parts of the ‘80s into something totally their own. The Hub and I are grateful for their contribution.
