Mistrust is the synth‑pop project of Bolton artist Tim Blackburn, known for pairing atmospheric electronics with straight‑from‑the‑heart melodies. His sound sits in that sweet spot between classic Northern synth DNA and modern emotional pull — the kind of tracks that hit you with warmth, nostalgia, and a hook you end up humming all day.

His recent single “LIFE”, released in support of The Whitechapel Centre, earned praise from Bread Records, Trust the Doc, and even landed him a feature on BBC North West Tonight.

Onstage, Mistrust brings a full experience: sincere vocals, big sing‑along moments, and video backdrops that pull the whole room into his world. He's played headline shows across the North West and supported acts like ULTRA: Foxx and The Cathodes, building a reputation as a reliable, quietly powerful live performer. His album Sunlight, along with singles like Yellow and Grey, New Chester Road, and LIFE, continue to cement his place in the UK indie‑electronic lane.

Beyond his own releases, Blackburn has a long history in the electronic scene — producing official remixes for artists including Tom Bailey (Thompson Twins) and Pitch Black, with one remix even breaking into the Top 30 indie radio charts in New Zealand.

His work has picked up airplay on Artefaktor Radio, Radio Hartlepool, Trust the Doc, Radio Wigwam, Big Satsuma Radio, and more. He's also used his music to give back, raising funds from his Yellow and Grey EP to help preserve a historic Class 507 Merseyrail train.

Similar artists: Kraftwerk, OMD, New Order, early Human League

Mistrust's music hits like a sonically tuned missile — the lyrics and sound feel like they pull you in, like a trip into your own mind. It's not just synths and beats; it's mood, memory, and lived experience wrapped in electronic colors. His tracks stay with you long after they fade out, and that's what makes him stand out in this scene.
