Ned Branchi is an Australian singer, songwriter, and Indie Progressive Rock musician based in Melbourne. He was a founding member and creative force behind The Horla (originally Plays With Marionettes, 1984–1987), Bigger Than Jesus (1989–1991), and Spoon (Australia) (1995–2000).
After Spoon stopped touring, Branchi pursued academic studies in Anthropology, Ethnomusicology, Asian Studies, and Linguistics, living and teaching across Thailand, China, Indonesia, India, and Nepal. During this time, he collaborated with traditional musicians and deepened his connection to global sound.
A catastrophic motorcycle accident in Java led to the amputation of his right leg and a crippled right arm. While recovering in hospital, Branchi composed the Femur EP — a cathartic, dark, and confrontational work exploring trauma, healing, and the liminal space of hospitals. Released worldwide on August 23, 2025, and launched live at Smith's Alternative in Canberra, the EP features contributions from Robin Casinader, Jack Howard, Mark Hunstone, Adam Bowler, and Andrew Brown.
Available on Bandcamp and major streaming platforms, Femur EP is a testament to resilience, black humor, and the enduring power of independent music.

Ned Branchi doesn't just write music — he survives it, transforms through it, and hands it back with grit and grace. Femur EP is raw, real, and unforgettable. We're proud to feature an artist who's lived the kind of story most only imagine.
