Black Hats are an indie/new wave band from Oxford, UK, built on grooves that don’t just sit in the pocket — they drive the whole machine.

Their sound leans on deft, reggae‑infused bass lines and skittering drum beats, locking into rhythms that feel tense, sharp, and alive. Over that foundation, the guitars come in like razor wire — anxious, melodic, and carrying the same punk‑edged precision that once powered The Jam.

Add in lyrics that are witty, catchy, and cut with real personality, and you’ve got a band that knows exactly how to turn groove, grit, and melody into something unmistakably theirs.

(L‑R) Nick, Mark & Budd have worked with Grammy‑nominated producer Sam Williams (Supergrass, Plan B), supported Reef, Dodgy, and Stornoway, and hit major UK stages including Wychwood Festival, Truck Festival, and the O2 Academy Oxford. Their second single “No More Smoke” landed placements on US TV in both Shameless and The Magicians, pushing their sound far beyond the UK circuit.

Nightshift Magazine put it best: “If all bands could write a song like Just Fall then they would have made it.”

Black Hats aren’t following a formula — they’re sharpening their own lane, one tightly‑wound groove at a time.

Black Hats hit that perfect mix of groove and grit — bass lines that move, guitars that slice, and lyrics with real bite. Proud to have them as Founding Featured Artists on The INDIE Musician Hub, and they’re absolutely spinning on The Hub RADIO.
