TABITCHIN is a Seattle-based multi‑instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, and the analog‑obsessed force behind Tabitchin Recording Studio, a 32‑track tape haven tucked into Snohomish.
A one‑man rhythm section, he plays guitar, bass, and drums, building tracks that slide between funk grit, rock swagger, and that unmistakable Bootsy‑Collins‑in‑the‑rearview “funky mood.”
Originally from the mountains, David Tabitchin landed in Seattle in the early ‘80s to launch a snowboarding school at Crystal Mountain — right as the city’s music scene was about to erupt. Before carving out his solo lane, he toured and recorded with a string of local groups including Shred & the Decrepits, Five Fingers of Doom, Jamie’s Crying, and Downwind Approach.
At Tabitchin Recording Studio (TRS), he tracks his own material and collaborates with Northwest artists, famously becoming the first person to record Jaymes Young, helping set that career in motion. His lyrics pull from the life he’s lived: back‑country snowboarding, ice climbing, paragliding — extreme‑sport language turned into rock‑and‑funk storytelling.
TABITCHIN is the rare artist who can build a whole band from scratch, hit record on the tape machine, and make it feel alive, human, and a little dangerous.
TABITCHIN makes me want to pick up my guitar… and also put it down. He’s that good. Funk, grit, analog soul — the guy plays like he’s plugged straight into the mountains he came from. Proud to have him in The INDIE Musician Hub.
