Andy Smith is a multi‑award‑winning, electrifying singer‑songwriter and multi‑instrumentalist originally from Bristol, UK, now based in South Africa. Blending Indie, Alternative, and Rock'n'roll Pop, Andy writes, records, and produces his own music — and has produced tracks for other artists across multiple genres.
His journey started early, learning guitar at age seven from his dad. Over the years he taught himself piano, bass, and drums, building the foundation for the self‑produced sound he's known for today.
Andy cut his teeth in cover bands beginning in 1998, first as a vocalist, then stepping into guitar in 2003 with Capone — a band he spent 13 years with, playing everything from intimate pubs to outdoor festivals and arena stages. During that era, songs like Raincheck, Non Future Man, and Living It Up were born.
In 2016, Andy formed Howlin' Haze, releasing the album All That's Real, featuring standout singles Tales of Yesterlife and The Cunning Linguist. His solo catalog includes Rock n Roll Goal (2012), The Equidistant Years (2020), and The Journey Man — a 19‑track “best of” collection released to mark his 50th birthday.
With four albums, a four‑track EP, and multiple singles, Andy Smith's catalog showcases a diverse, multi‑genre range and a career built on authenticity, craft, and pure musical grit.

Andy's the definition of a lifer — a musician who never clocked out. You can hear every year of grind, growth, and stage time in his catalog. Four albums, an EP, and a stack of singles later, he's still pushing, still evolving, and still doing it his way. That's the kind of artist we back at The INDIE Musician Hub.
