Marco Pernice is an Italian guitarist and producer who found a new dimension after years of concerts, publications and collaborations: electro and funk music with rock and blues running straight through it. He's not following a trend. He put in the decades, and now he makes the music he hears in his head.
He started in Italy in the early 90s playing bands, concerts and festivals, growing up on Hendrix, Clapton, Pat Metheny, John Scofield, Vernon Reid, Satriani and Vai, while working as a radio speaker and guitar teacher. He played festivals like Time Zones, Taranta Power and Bari Jazz Festival on programs with Lou Reed, John Cale, Popol Vuh and Uri Caine, and got play on Radio RAI and web radio. In 2005 an internship with Mike Stern taught him the lesson that stuck: technique isn't the salvation of a guitarist, what you got inside is.
Now songs like "DJ Killer," "The Electric Pope," "My Mind," "Funk U," "Fire" and "Tell Me Baby" are hits on the international indie radio circuit, charting on Radio Indie Alliance, EarOne, Classifica Indie, the Euro Indie Music Chart, iTunes and Amazon.
"The Shock" hit #5 in the Top 10 Best Songs of 2024 on Only Rock Radio in Spain, and in summer 2025 his cover of Lou Reed's "Strawman" entered the Radio Indie Alliance Top 100.
Since January 2022 his video clips have been in rotation on the TV program "Spazio Musica," seen in 130 countries on 200 million connected devices, and "My Mind" was picked as the theme song for an Italian radio show. More radio shows and podcasts keep bringing him on, and it's easy to hear why.
Love the genre bending, Marco. Most guys pick one lane and stay there. You throw electro, funk, rock and blues together and make it work. That's a real musician. Welcome to the hub.- Rob | The INDIE Musician
